END OF YEAR MESSAGE

As we welcome 2025, Norlha reflects on a year grounded in connection and purpose. Rather than expanding outward, we focused on deepening our relationships—with the local community, our artisans, the yak fibre, our international team, and the customers who share in our vision. This approach has strengthened our foundation and reaffirmed our commitment to thoughtful, inclusive growth.

This year, we celebrated 17 years as an atelier in Ritoma. Our proudest achievements lie in the small yet meaningful milestones: 60% of our 106 local artisans and local administrators have been with us for over a decade and 66% of our team consists of women. Their dedication and expertise have become the foundation of Norlha. In 2024, Norlha welcomed 11 new artisans, most of whom are under the age of 30, reflecting a growing interest from the younger generation and recognition of our efforts to cultivate an engaging and competitive workplace. Our international creative team continues to elevate our designs and communication with their sensitivity to local traditions and inclusivity of local people, achieving new heights in artistry.

At the heart of everything we do is the yak, an animal that has sustained Tibetan life for centuries. Guided by sensitivity to this heritage, we’ve reimagined the yak for modern use through its fibre, creating livelihood opportunities while preserving its legacy. This year, we explored the fibre’s potential in new and exciting ways—introducing natural pleats in our S/S collection, inspired by the harmonious interplay of nature and fabric on the Tibetan plateau. For winter, we drew inspiration from the plateau’s autumnal tones and textures, brought to life through artisanal handspinning and over-felting techniques. We were proud to introduce our Home Collection in the autumn, showcasing the world’s most luxurious yak khullu blankets.

Our unity and shared purpose at Norlha have enabled these meaningful strides. Internationally, we are proud to be represented by La Garçonne in New York, Andreas Murkudis in Berlin, DSMP in Paris, and Mouki Mou in London. We are deeply grateful to the Ritoma community and local monastery for their continued support, and to Vogue.com, HTSI, Atmos, and Huasheng Media in China for recognising our work.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to growing with care and sensitivity to all—fostering a deeper connection to the people, materials, and traditions that inspire us. Thank you for being part of this journey.
