Felt
Dry cleaning is a great way to refresh your items from season to season.
STAIN REMOVAL
The Yak Khullu does not take color easily and most stains can be removed with an absorbent towel. But no full immersion in water.
WINE, OIL, FOOD:
1. Wet the spot well with a mix of warm water and light detergent until saturated.
2. Massage the stain lightly to break up fibers - wait 2-3 minutes.
3. Pat – don’t rub - the area firmly with absorbent paper towel to remove moisture.
4. Repeat 1-3 as necessary till stain visibly lightens.
5. Rinse and repeat until detergent clears.
6. Pat (again, don’t rub!) surface well and lay flat to dry.

DRY STAINS
Lint rollers are a best first option for dry stains - a few passes with a good adhesive roller should reduce dry stains significantly and freshen up any felt product.
MUD
The most important thing to do with mud is let it sit and dry. Dryness is the key for releasing fine dirt particles. Once dry, slightly beat the felt to knock out the remaining dust as much as possible. Vacuum lightly to finish.
UPKEEP
Surface pilling should not be a problem with Yak Khullu felt used in our products. The felt is very dense and pilling complaints are rare. If you do happen to experience minor pilling on the surface or edges of your product, we suggest a few circular passes with a home fabric shaver.
Under certain wet conditions, the pressure of a heavy or angular object inside a felted item may cause the felt to slightly change shape. Running a steamer or iron lightly over the general area can help return the bag to its original form. After a few light passes of 2-3 seconds the area should begin to smooth out.
Carpets
We recommend that you vacuum your rug regularly to keep it clean and to help prevent the pile of the rug from flattening. If you have purchased a wool rug or long pile shaggy rug we recommend using a suction only vacuum cleaner, do not use a vacuum cleaner with a spinning brush head. Most light dirty marks can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or dry clean your rug.
CLEAN SPILLS & SPOTS IMMEDIATELY
You should clean spills immediately. NEVER rub a spill. Blot liquids with a dry absorbent cloth or white paper towel. Some stains may be cleaned with a very mild clear detergent and lukewarm water or a good carpet shampoo. Avoid excessive moisture or wetting when cleaning the stain. Dry the rug on a flat surface. If a stain cannot be removed you should seek specialist cleaning advice. Avoid harsh chemicals as they may damage the rug.
GET YOUR CARPET CLEANED PROFESSIONALLY EVERY YEAR
Try to have your carpet professionally cleaned once every 6-12 months, using a professional carpet cleaner. Professional cleaning should be carried out only by a reputable company, and they should avoid using any shampoos or cleaners with a spirit base.
Rotating your carpet prevents discoloration, matting from frequent foot traffic, and excessive dirt in one spot. When a carpet is partially covered by a couch, desk, or ottoman, the covered part will inevitably stay cleaner than the exposed portion of the carpet. Simply rotate your carpet once every six months.
